That is the question we don’t give too much thought to, but considering how vital windshield wipers are in keeping our vision of the road clean and clear, it just may be worth asking. There are plastic wiper blades, metal wiper blades and beam blades, and then there are different types of refills for said blades. You also have to consider your ride’s wiper size as well as your own personal taste, so changing wiper blades can in fact be a daunting task. But it basically comes down to two options – you’re either going to replace just the rubber wiping element, or replace the whole ensemble. Replacing the rubber is certainly cheaper, and Trico wipers are easy to refill, so let’s start with your options for simply replacing the rubber…
Trico Square (17 Series) Wiper Refills
These puppies are designed for Trico Sense blades and most OE blades made by Trico and NWB. If you need refills that are measured in millimeters instead of inches, these are for you. (More precisely, from 380 mm to 700 mm.)
Trico Steel (43 Series) Wiper Refills
If you have long metal blades made by Trico or Anco (Trico Exact Fit, Trico Classic and Anco 25), these are your best bet. Sizes range from 13” to 22”, so any way you slice it, you’re most likely covered in this category.
Trico Universal (44 Series) Wiper Refills
There’s always something for everyone, right? If you have a long plastic style blade, these plastic-backed refills will work well for you. These fit the bill for Trico, Anco, Pylon, Roberk, Tridon and OE blades or housings. Available in 13” to 24” lengths.
Trico Narrow (45 Series) Wiper Refills
These twin rail style refills are pre-assembled to make your life easier… you just need to know what size (in millimeters, 400-700) you need. Made for OE and Trico products.
Trico Trapezoidal Claw (46 Series) Wiper Refills
These unique narrow claw twin rail refills are for Trico Exact Fit blades, Bosch blades, NWB and SWF blades. Come in 380 mm to 500 mm sizing.
And last, but not certainly not least…
Trico Break-To-Fit (47 Series) Wiper Refills
These are also narrow refills that you can literally break to fit your rig’s wiper blades. How cool is that? They’re literally scored at 1-inch intervals… sorta like a chocolate bar (although not as tasty). If you’ve got Trico Windspoiler, Toyota OE bridge vertebrae, square claw or trapezoidal claw blades, you’re in business.
